A chegada do primeiro verão (Primvs Ver), Ostara, é sempre um tempo de renovação, prosperidade e florescimento para João Andrade e seu projeto Buaiteoir.

No último dia 30 de setembro de 2022, a Antichrist Magazine e a Grand Sounds Promotion fizeram mais um lançamento digital em seu canal no Youtube, desta vez a revista e a produtora ucranianas homenagearam a potência máxima do Black Metal, Bathory, banda que escreveu sua história a partir da genialidade de Thomas Börje Forsberg (Quorthon).

Entre bandas de diversas partes do mundo estão representando o Brasil, junto com o projeto recifense de Folk Metal, a Battle Raven, a Brave e a Hellish War.

Nas palavras do idealizador do projeto Pernambuco, ter participado do Tributo ao Motörhead, foi uma enorme surpresa, no entanto saber, pouco depois deste lançamento, que o Buaiteoir havia sido convidado para elencar o Tributo ao Bathory, realmente deixou João Andrade sem palavras.

“Dias depois do lançamento do Tributo ao Motörhead (13 de abril de 2022), recebi um novo e-mail da produtora convidando para algo inimaginável. Gravar 1916 elevou meu trabalho a um nível que eu jamais poderia esperar nesses 25 anos de estrada, pois há uma grande diferença entre você gravar uma música de uma banda consagrada “por gravar” e você ser convidado para tanto. Posso considerar que, hoje, o Buaiteoir tem o reconhecimento merecido pelo esforço sem pretensão. Sim, sem pretensão, pois quando criei o projeto, uma décadas atrás, apenas queria conhecer como me portaria atuando em uma área distante do que costumava ouvir e tocar.

 

Assim como foi com o Lemmy Kilmister, precisei realizar um estudo aprofundado da obra de Quorthon para escolher a música que pudesse ter afinidade entre ambas as partes. A música escolhida foi “Foreverdark woods” do álbum Nordland primeira parte de 2002. Apesar de muitas outras terem sido selecionadas na pré-produção do single.

Para mim como músico, arranjador e compositor, diz João Andrade, mergulhar na obra do Thomas foi de grande satisfação, pois há em sua essência, além da genialidade, muita humildade e sinceridade. Posso dizer, hoje, que por este e muitos outros motivos, tenho me aproximado cada vez mais do Black Metal e me afastado de outros estilos, aos quais dediquei muito de mim, outrora. Existe nesses grupos uma aura de disputa sem lógica onde a sua criatividade não é considerada, onde há muito julgamento e cobranças de qualidade e técnica que vão levar você a lugar algum. Quem faz música faz por prazer, não para buscar fama ou sucesso ou ser melhor que o coleguinha. Palavras com união, coleguismo e apoio soam espúrias em outras vertentes do Metal, pois na cena Black Metal, em especial fora do Brasil, há uma essência maior que é o acolhimento e a hospitalidade.

Atualmente a agenda do Buaiteoir está apertado, segundo Andrade, o livro que traz a biografia dos 10 anos, isto é, da primeira fase do projeto está sendo finalizado e será lançado em 2023. Está sendo estudada a possibilidade de um show comemorativo e mais algumas novidades que serão disponibilizadas no site nos próximos meses.

Tribute to Bathory

Primvs Ver (Ostara), is always a time of prosperity for João Andrade and his project, Buaiteoir. On the last September 30, 2022, Antichrist Magazine and Grand Sounds Promotion made another digital release on their Youtube channel. This time the Ukrainian magazine and producer released a tribute to the mighty Black Metal icon, Bathory, the band that wrote its story from the genius of Thomas Börje Forsberg (Quorthon).

Among bands from various parts of the world, Battle Raven, Brave and Hellish War are representing Brazil, as well as Buaiteoir, folk metal from Recife (Pernambuco), which reinterpreted the song Foreverdark woods.

In the words of the creator of the Buaiteoir, having participated in the Tribute to Motörhead, it was a great surprise. Shortly after this launch, that Buaiteoir had been invited to record one song to Tribute to Bathory, really left João Andrade speechless.

“Days after the release of Tribute to Motörhead (April 13, 2022), I received a new email from Antichrist and Grand Sounds inviting me to do something really great. There’s a biggest difference between recording a song, because you like the band and being invited to do that. I can consider that, today, Buaiteoir has the recognition it deserves for its effort without intention. Yes, without intention, because when I created the project, ten years ago, I just wanted to know how I would behave working in a genre of Metal far from what I used to hear and play.

As with Lemmy Kilmister, I had to study Quorthon’s work to choose the music that could have an affinity between both Buaiteoir and Bathory. The song chosen was “Foreverdark woods” from the Nordland album first part of 2002. Although many others were selected in the pre-production of the single.

For me as a musician, arranger and composer, says João Andrade, immersing myself in Thomas’ work was of great satisfaction, because in his essence, in addition to his genius, there is a lot of humbleness and sincerity. I can say, today, that for this and many other reasons, I have been getting closer and closer to Black Metal and moving away from other styles of Metal, which I dedicated a lot of myself, in the past. There is in those groups an aura of illogical dispute where your creativity is not considered, where there is a lot of judgment and demands for quality and technique that will get you nowhere. Those who make music do it for pleasure, not to seek fame or success or to be better than their peers. Words as “union”, “collegiality” and “support sound” are spurious in other aspects of Metal, because in the Black Metal scene, especially outside Brazil, there is a greater Black Metal essence that is reception and hospitality.

Currently, the Buaiteoir’s schedule is tight, according to Andrade, the book that brings the biography of the 10 years, that is, of the first phase of the project, is being finalized and will be launched in 2023. The possibility of a commemorative show and a few more is being studied. news that will be made available on the site in the coming months.

Tribute to Motörhead

The tribute to Motörhead is available on the Antichrist Magazine youtube channel. Released by Antichrist Magazine and Grand Sounds Promotion last April 13, 2022.

Among bands from various parts of the world, Tyranno, Suck This Punch, Hammathaz, Warshipper are representing Brazil, as well as Buaiteoir, folk metal from Recife (Pernambuco), which reinterpreted the song 1916.

The invitation was made in August 2021. I was surprised, because taking part in an International tribute represents a certain evolution in the artistic process of Buaiteoir.

Since the release of Tionscnmah (EP, 2014), we are gaining ground abroad, despite being an independent band.

Recording a Motörhead song is a great honor and responsibility, especially since it’s not just a re-recording, but a new musical composition. 1916 is a little known song to anyone, I guess. It was a suggestion, I particularly liked it and felt very comfortable composing a new arrangement for this song. Everyone has their opinion on what they enjoy listening to, maybe because of my 25 years as a musician I prefer the challenge of letting creativity flow, but without giving up listening to the music as it was originally recorded.

Despite being very happy with everything that has been happening for Buaiteoir, given the news that are to come, I am still very sad about what is happening in the world.
